Kid's Class: Introduction to Beading

Keep those kids busy making beautiful beaded jewelry! They'll learn how to design and string a fantastic piece using either sparkly glass beads or coco wood "surfer" beads and sterling silver. Each child will select a charm or focal bead to use in their piece. This is the perfect first class for a budding jewelry designer. Ages 6-14. All materials are included. Intro to the Torch: Making Headpins & Pinning Elements
Cost $40 (materials included)
Level: Beginner Silver Smithing/Intermediate Wire Working

This fun and easy introduction to working with fire teaches the basic elements of working with a small butane torch to make ball end headpins. We'll discuss fueling the torch and lighting it, safely handling sterling silver in fire, and using sterling silver's natural melting properties to secure elements through pinning procedures. You'll finish an interchangeable wire wrapped bail. You must be very comfortable working with wire to take this class. All materials are included. Learn to make personalized, one of a kind pieces in this fun bracelet class! You'll create a personalized identification bracelet with fine silver Precious Metal Clay -- stamp in a name, symbols or anything your heart desires. You'll also make an adorable unique charm to dangle from the clasp. We'll fire the PMC pieces in Bead World's kiln, patina and polish them any way you like, and finish the bracelet with sterling silver chain and a clasp. It makes a fantastic gift, but you'll want to make it for yourself! There will be an extended break (1 1/2 to 2 hours) while your projects are firing in the kiln.
